If you want to acquire a skill

It is true. Your speed increases as you become more skilled in an activity. Hence, it is very important while acquiring a skill – that we do not focus on the speed of performing that activity. The focus should be on the activity itself.

Speed is a byproduct.

Marie Kondo tip on effective tidying

Marie Kondo has discovered a wonderful technique to tidying up the mess. As I see, we can use the principle to tidying the house or even to tidying our mind. I reproducing here the main theme to keep in mind before tidying up:

Effective tidying involves only two essential actions:
1. discarding things
2. where to store things

This principle does not change.

The rest depends on the level of tidiness you personally want to achieve.

Nothing is impossible – Michael Phelps

Bob is exquisitely demanding. But it is with him that I learned this essential truth: Nothing is impossible.
And this: Because nothing is impossible, you have to dream big dreams; the bigger, the better.

So many people along the way, whatever it is you aspire to do, will tell you it can’t be done. But all it takes is imagination.

You dream. You plan. You reach.

There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes.

But with hard work, with belief, with confidence and trust in yourself and those around you, there are no limits.

Perseverance, determination, commitment, and courage – those things are real. The desire for redemption drives you. And the will to succeed – it’s everything. That’s why, on the pool deck in Beijing in the summer of 2008, there were sometimes no words, only screams.

Because, believe it, dreams really can come true.

Happy Friendship Day

I received a beautiful poem written by Harivansh Rai Bachchan today on Whatsapp. I want to record the poem here:

अगर बिकी तेरी दोस्ती
तो पहले ख़रीददार हम होंगे

तुझे खबर न होगी तेरी क़ीमत
पर तुझे पाकर सबसे आमिर हम होंगे
दोस्त साथ हो तो रोने में भी शान हैं
दोस्त ना हो तो महफ़िल भी शमशान हैं
सारा खेल दोस्ती का है ऐ मेरे दोस्त
वर्ना जनाज़ा और बारात एक ही समान हैं
